After ten years on the Swedish indie scene, eleven albums, and 300 shows, Avantgardet now releases their new album “United States of Sweden.” It portrays the Sweden that has emerged over the past decade – and the country it is in the process of becoming. Forward momentum and resistance collide with decay, desperation, and grief as Avantgardet’s catalogue expands with eleven new tracks.
Ten years ago, Avantgardet debuted with “Too Many Expensive Shoes and Dead Eyes,” driven by the ambition to use music as a force for change. Since then, society has evolved rapidly – but the band’s conviction remains: to create change and inspire hope together with their audience.
– What was considered deeply racist ten years ago now forms the basis for cross-bloc political decisions, often without significant opposition. Music has a responsibility to remain independent and to stand up against this, says Rasmus Arvidsson.
