Amanda Shires is one of the most distinctive voices on today’s modern Americana scene — a Grammy Award–winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who steadfastly follows her creative compass, no matter where it leads. On June 15, she comes to Södra Teatern for a long-awaited concert.
Raised in West Texas, Shires began playing fiddle with the legendary Texas Playboys at just 15 years old. Since then, she has built a critically acclaimed solo career, collaborated with artists such as John Prine and Justin Townes Earle, and was named Emerging Artist of the Year by the Americana Music Association. She is also a founding member of the supergroup The Highwomen alongside Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Brandi Carlile.
Shires is celebrated for her luminous songwriting, where the personal is always front and center. The album Take It Like A Man was met with unanimous acclaim for its honest and unflinching portrayals of life as a woman in a time of upheaval. On the follow-up, Nobody’s Girl, she delved even deeper into emotional terrain, delivering a record not about heartbreak, but about survival, self-awareness, and reclaiming her own narrative.
Audiences can expect an evening centered on powerful songs, presence, and storytelling — from an artist who never chooses the easy road, but instead consistently walks the honest one. Live at Södra Teatern, June 15.
