It is now confirmed that Sahara Hotnights will follow up their sold-out and critically acclaimed spring club tour with a run of shows across Sweden this summer. At the same time as announcing the dates, the band is also releasing the album favorite “City of Summer Ruins” as a single.
– It’s about love withering in an overheated world, with the hope that something new can still grow out of it, says Maria Andersson about the track.
In February, Sahara Hotnights released their album “No One Ever Really Changes” – a live-tinged record exploring our desire to change, and the realization that we may never fully do so. The album was met with widespread critical acclaim. Both Hymn and Festivalrykten awarded it 9 out of 10, with Festivalrykten writing: “On their eighth album, Sahara Hotnights once again deliver engaging, gritty and exuberant rock music.”
In Göteborgs-Posten, Johan Lindqvist gave the album 4 out of 5, calling it “a romantic yet anything but naïve tribute to the rehearsal space and rock music as the glue that binds life together.” When Fredrik Strage highlighted the album on Nyhetsmorgon, he said: “They’ve really turned up the volume. There are plenty of riffs, it’s very rock-driven and very charming – exactly how you want Sahara Hotnights to sound.”
This summer, Sahara Hotnights will take their new album and extensive catalogue on the road. Ahead of the tour, they are now spotlighting the seasonally fitting album track “City of Summer Ruins” as a single.
About Sahara Hotnights
When Sahara Hotnights released “Love in Times of Low Expectations” in 2022, it marked their first album in eleven years. Since forming in Robertsfors in 1992, the quartet has consisted of Maria Andersson (vocals, guitar), Jennie Asplund (guitar), Johanna Asplund (bass) and Josephine Forsman (drums).
Over the years, the band has earned critical acclaim, gold and platinum records, and toured extensively both in Sweden and internationally. In 2025, they were inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame, and earlier this year they released their latest album, “No One Ever Really Changes.”
