Meet one of Sweden’s most celebrated songwriters and lyricists in an intimate concert experience!

Py Bäckman is the creative force behind some of Sweden’s most beloved classics, including Stad i ljus (“City in Light”) and Gabriellas sång (“Gabriella’s Song”). She has written songs for artists such as Malena Ernman, Helen Sjöholm, Kalle Moraeus & Orsa Spelmän, and Nordman. Many will also recognize songs like KoppångenVandraren (“The Wanderer”), and Min plats (“My Place”).

As a performer, Py had her major breakthrough in the 1980s with Raj Montana Band alongside Dan Hylander. Following the band’s split, she embarked on a highly successful solo career, releasing seven albums and songs such as Jag Lever (“I Live”), Con-CordeliaKristall (“Crystal”), and Långt Härifrån (“Far From Here”).

Py has translated acclaimed musicals including ChicagoEvita, and Garbo into Swedish. She has also translated songs by international artists and, on behalf of the Church of Sweden, written new hymns as additions to the Swedish Hymnal.

In 2025, she was awarded the prestigious Evert Taube Prize with the following citation:

“Py Bäckman’s lyrics have not only been shaped by Swedish culture but have also helped shape the country’s poetic landscape. Through a boundary-crossing body of work that moves effortlessly between genres, she has, over several decades, developed a voice that unites the intimate with the universal, and the everyday with the existentially sublime. Her texts are distinguished by linguistic sensitivity, rhythm, phonetics, and a recurring exploration of life’s fundamental themes: love, freedom, faith, and reconciliation. Her associative and emotionally resonant poetry is deeply rooted in popular tradition, balancing simplicity and complexity in a way that makes the language accessible without ever becoming simplistic.”

Now, Py looks back on her remarkable career together with some of Sweden’s finest musicians. Expect a unique concert featuring a string of her greatest songs and stories from a lifetime in music.

Featuring:
